Film Festival was a pleasure
I was delighted to attend the 5th annual Benicia Film Festival this past Labor Day weekend. I had the privilege to attend the Gala at 6 p.m. and the seven listed films at 8 p.m. (The audience watched a bonus film, making eight short films). My favorite film of the night was “Brothers.” Watching it, the viewer would not have known that it was “filmed” by a smartphone. The subject, two brothers and their survival after they drank away their inheritance, make it a must-see film.
I appreciated the question and answer session with Indica DeRose, a high school student, who had her film shown. She was a very talented young lady.
I also enjoyed sitting next to Trina. She is a Benicia High School senior who attended the Friday night session in her school capacity as a journalist. I look forward to reading her reviews.
If you were unable to attend this year, come next year and support the arts. I plan to attend the Gala and the Friday night films next year.
