Come to the march
I urge all residents– including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, students, senior citizens, and yes, gun owners, and anyone who believes too many children have been victimized and/or killed due to gun violence– to participate in the Benicia March For Our Lives on Saturday, March 24.
Join us at 10 a.m. as we march, lead by students, from the foot of First Street up to the downtown park. At 11:15, an array of speakers– including students, elected officials, a teacher and a school board member– will share their thoughts on the urgent need for “common sense” gun laws. Poetry will be recited and the song “Shine” will be performed by BHS students.
We will be marching in solidarity with Parkland students and perhaps half a million people who will be demanding sensible gun laws in Washington D.C. and in solidarity with hundreds of March For Our Lives events being held across the country. Let our legislators know that gun safety is a non-partisan issue and that we demand meaningful gun safety laws including a ban on assault rifles. Go to www.everytownforgunsafety.org for more information. Let’s make our voices heard loud and clear: we love our children more than our guns and we mean it when we say “Never Again.”
