Benicia High’s girls tennis team wrapped up its fourth straight unbeaten season in Solano County Athletic Conference play with a 9-0 victory at Fairfield last Thursday

It was the 62nd straight SCAC victory for the Lady Panthers (15-0), who haven’t lost a conference match since falling to Vanden way back on Oct. 11, 2012.

Benicia head coach Lisa Burton gave her three seniors the day off, allowing several younger players a chance at their first varsity starts. Justine Haarberg paired up with Frankie Soto in No. 1 doubles and won 6-4, 6-4. Janis Yoo and Ashley Ko made their varsity debut and won 6-4, 6-2 in No. 2 doubles. Shannon Taylor and Ellah Allen also debuted at No. 3 doubles and won by forfeit.

Melanie Fisher (No. 1 singles) and Madeline Beyer (No. 2) each won 6-0, 6-0. Madison Lammert was a 6-0, 6-1 winner in No. 3 singles, and Kaitlyn Tang won her No. 4 singles match, 6-0, 6-2. Kati Steineman was a 6-1, 6-4 winner in No. 5 singles, and LaPaula Parker won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.

Benicia will try to bring home singles and doubles titles when the Lady Panthers take part in the SCAC Championships beginning Tuesday in Vacaville.
