Lady Panther runners make it four in a row

Benicia High’s Lady Panthers won for the fourth time in four meets while the Panther boys fell just short of Vanden again at Wednesday’s Solano County Athletic League cross country meet at Lynch Canyon.

The Lady Panthers won despite having no runners finish in the top three. Alex Menjibar-Moore took fourth place with a time of 23:51. Hannah Keala finished sixth (24:20), Rachel Kravitz was seventh (24:30), Rayna Fitzgerald took eighth (25:09) and Asha Woodmansee came in ninth (25:11).

Vanden’s Maile Dismuke won the individual race in 22:51, but Benicia won as a team with 25 points., well ahead of Vanden (51), American Canyon (56) and Bethel (135).

Vanden’s boys won with 29 points, two points better than the Panthers (31). American Canyon was a distant third (79), followed by Fairfield (107) and Bethel (135). Benicia has finished second to Vanden in all four SCAC meets, with three meets decided by three points or less.

Benicia’s boys had the top two runners and three of the top five. Luis Ramirez won the race in 17:30, with teammate Daylon Garcia second in 18:17. Jacob Hoenig finished fifth (19:20).

Benicia races next Wednesday at Rush Ranch.
