Jeff Burkhart’s “Rhyme and Reason: Will Your Won’ts Away

March 5, 2017 by Jeff Burkhart Leave a Comment

Pub Shot

Sometimes when things start piling up, and I can’t get a break
I take a breath and slow it down, and measure moves I make

It seems to me the strategy, to run this race I’m on
Is not to tire while running sprints; my life’s a marathon
I’m focused on the things I know, I’ll learn the things I don’t
Living is a test of will; it’s not a test of won’t

I’ll stop and search inside my soul, so I’ll become aware;
To grasp my inner tortoise, and then lose my inner hare

I won’t give up ‘cause I can change, the things the future brings
I know it’s never over till, a certain lady sings
