Jeff Burkhart’s “Rhyme and Reason”: Super Bowl Fever

February 5, 2017 by Jeff Burkhart Leave a Comment

Pub Shot

I hear a buzz in Houston
Fans: The Super bowl’s today!
The Falcons and the Patriots
Are squaring off to play

Wait no more; it’s going down!
I’ll tell you what it means
The stock is up on Barbeque
And Boston’s Brown Baked Beans

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick
Are sneaking through the halls
So they can let some air escape
From inside all the balls

The bookies down in Vegas
And the pundits on TV
Predicting how the game will end
And who’ll be MVP

Forget about the Facebook
And the tweets from Donald Trump
Wallowing in politics
This Sunday is for chumps

I’m tuning out the idiots
And all their cute one-liners
“Why can’t it be the Patriots
Against the 49ers?!”
