It’s not about the presents, or the baubles or the bangles
Or multi-colored lights, after they’re hung and un-entangled
The egg-nog’s nice, but that’s not it, nor beef cut with a cleaver
It’s not the Yorkshire pudding, and it’s not the chestnuts either
I think it’s an idea, that’s wrapped up inside a feeling
That tickles you and teases you, and sets your spirit reeling
A spirit that compels you, to get out and do some giving
And lend a special purpose, to the life that you are living
And maybe it’s the twinkle, in a little child’s eyes
That tells the real truth, of where the spirit really lies
Long ago three wise men, brought their gifts and gave them out
The little child they gave them to, is what it’s all about
