Jeff Burkhart’s “Rhyme and Reason Countdown to Christmas”: Images of Christmas

Pub Shot

(For my Mom Dorothy Burkhart, who made Christmas real to me.)

No matter what you may believe, or not believe is real
The story of Nativity, reveals our best ideals

The Wisdom of the Magi and, the Innocence of child
The gift of our Salvation, and the dream of Mercy mild

The Miracle of virgin birth, the Guiding Star above
A message from the heavens came, of Hope and Peace and Love

My Mother told this story, I believed her I suppose
In honor of her memory, I’ll tell you how it goes;

“Two thousand fifteen years ago, asleep and safe from danger,
the greatest gift the world has seen, lay quiet in a manger.”
