Interstate 680 between Benicia and Fairfield is being repaired and repaved, said Vince Jacala, CalTrans District 4 public affairs spokesperson.
Drivers using that 13-mile stretch of highway may find their trips disrupted by the construction, particularly this week and continuing until spring 2016, he said.
“Although no full highway closures are scheduled at this time, motorists may experience delays as crews work to repave I-680 with intermittent, overnight, alternating ramp and lane closures,” Jacala said.
He promised that specific ramp closure and detour signs would be posted. Through Friday, crews are scheduled to pave both southbound and northbound lanes of I-680 nightly between Fairfield and Benicia, he said.
To make sure workers and the public remain safe, one of the South I-680 lanes along that portion of the highway will be closed between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. One northbound lane of the highway also will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m..
“Caltrans appreciates your patience as we work to improve California’s highways,” Jacala said.
He said Caltrans would provide updates to the I-680 Solano County project on its website, http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist4.
