BENICIA – The HQ Gallery is reopening to the public Saturday May 23. New temporary hours will be Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.
One of the newest members to join HQ is collage artist Pat Viera. She paints on paper, then tears it and uses the pieces to create unique and striking designs. She has developed her own techniques, which give her artwork a distinctive style. Ask her about her secret ingredient and she might let you in on it!
Viera has been using this shelter in place time to paint new, abstract designs and then piece them together to create beautiful portraits. Pat also works in clay, water color and pencil. One of her many talents is drawing custom pet portraits in pencil, from photographs. You can contact her through the HQ Gallery website hqgallery.net.
HQ Gallery is excited to welcome its visitors back! The gallery has new new look with a fresh coat of paint. It has been approved by the City of Benicia to reopen, using safety protocols that will protect you when you are in the gallery. Docents will be cleaning constantly, wearing masks and will be sitting behind an acrylic shield while visitors are present. Only a few visitors will be allowed in at one time, and they will be expected to wear their own masks and use hand sanitizer or gloves (provided by the gallery).
The “Spring Inspirations” show is currently on view at 333 First St. in Benicia. The artwork shown here is “White Elephant” by Pat Viera.
