Friday Poetry Corner: D.L. Lang “Worldly Windows”

November 4, 2016 by Editor Leave a Comment

In a world that is filled
with walls, be a door.
Keep on breathing even
if you think you can’t take it anymore.

Where there are only
bricks and mud, carve windows.
In the coldness of the night,
be the flaming light.

You will approach conflict,
but you can choose your fights.
When existence seems like a free fall,
remember to bounce.

If you have the choice,
choose laughter over tears.
Though you cannot see,
take a step beyond your fears.

Do not hold your own
chains in place.
You must act
with kindness and grace.

You must run towards the wild
for it will set you free.
You must be the source of love
if you wish to find peace.

D.L. Lang is a member of the Benicia First Tuesday Poets.
