A Monday morning fire at Discovery Inn, 197 Lincoln Road West, Vallejo, injured one person who has been taken to Kaiser Permanente, Vallejo Fire Captain Arthur Gonzales said.
No other description of the injured person was released, but Gonzales described the victim’s injuries as life threatening. No one else was hurt in the incident, he said.
Gonzales said firefighters on Engine 22 spotted the fire in progress at 11:30 a.m. Monday, and reported it to dispatchers.
Two off-duty firefighters entered the building, where they found and removed the victim.
“The crew and off-duty firefighters performed patient care on the victim with assistance from Medic Ambulance,” Gonzales said. Then the victim was sent to the hospital.
Engine 22 firefighters then called in a second alarm, for reinforcements, he said. The fire was under control by 11:55 a.m., he said.
“Vallejo received mutual aid from the cities of Crockett, Benicia and American Canyon,” he said.
“Without the quick action of Vallejo Firefighters the outcome could have been worse,” Gonzales said.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time and the incident remains under investigation, he said.
