Artists looking to have their artwork exhibited outside Benicia can rejoice. The Fairfield-Suisun City Visual Arts Association will be holding its 53rd annual Nor-Cal Regional Juried Art Show at the Solano Town Center.
This year’s jurors are Solano Community College graphic design and illustration professor Rachel Smith, Sacramento abstract painter Skip Lee and retired Solano Community College photography professor Ron Zak. Categories include oils, acrylics, watercolor, pastels/drawing, sculpture/assemblage, ceramic vessels, mixed media/collage, black and white photography, color photography, computer art, fiber art/textiles, printmaking, jewelry/glass and others. Each piece of art should have a three-section form filled out, which can be downloaded at fvaa-arts.org.
Art can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5 at the FSVAA gallery in the Solano Town Center. Artwork must be submitted in person, as no digital submissions are available for this show. Art that does not get selected can be picked up between 5 and 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 6. The exhibit will run from Wednesday, Nov. 9 to Monday, Jan. 9. A jurors’ talk will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday. Jan. 8, with pickup scheduled right after. An artists gala reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17. This event is free and open to the public.
