Open Government training also on panel agenda

In addition to its regular Open Government training session, Benicia Economic Development Board will consider two applications Wednesday to the panel’s Tourism Committee.
“In December the EDB chair made its annual appointments to the Tourism Committee,” Economic Development Manager Mario Giuliani wrote in a report to the board. “Following that action two more applications were received.”
One of the applications is from Judith Keyes to fill the vacant unexpired term for a representative of the glass arts community.
The other application is from Deanna Baillie for the marketing group. While that position is already occupied by Pat Ryll, Giulliani said in an email that Ryll would serve in another position, possibly the (Downtown Business Alliance).
Also Wednesday, the board will hear an update on the tourism marketing program.
The board’s Open Government Training will be conducted by City Attorney Heather McLaughlin.
“The Open Government ordinance requires that all public officials and some employees read the Open Government Ordinance and attend an annual training on the ordinance,” McLaughlin wrote in a Feb. 11 report.
The training will include a review of the Brown Act, conflict of interest issues, ethics, due process and open government tips for effective meetings.
Other items on the agenda: the Benicia Main Street quarterly report from November to January, an a review of commercial and industrial vacancies.
Businesses that will be acknowledged are Pinball Pirate; Dignified Living Home Care; Sulzer Turbo Services Houston Inc.; Officers: Darayus Pardivala & Scott Fahey; and Marigenna Guieb Reyes.
