The Economic Development Board (EDB) will review the business license applications for 11 new businesses and one restaurant with a new owner at tonight’s meeting.
As part of the EDB’s informational updates portion of the meeting, the business license applications go over new businesses that have applied for a license, have a new owner or have moved to a new location within Benicia. The business license updates are considered routine and are only discussed if requested by a board member, economic development staff member or member of the public.
Three businesses applied for applications in June: beauty shop Kathleen Reed on 832 First St., home décor and garden art store Glen Cove Farm in the Tannery Building, and West Coast Fixtures on 511 Stone Road.
Additionally, eight businesses applied in July: automotive protective coating center AE Auto Shield on 4562 East Second St., beauty service Braids by Brii on 905 First St., Bridgeview Psychological Services on 701 Southampton Road, Freedom Mortgage Corporation on 1021 First St., family counselor Jessica Treat MFT on 555 First St., auto parts center Matt’s Classic Bowties on 5360 Gateway Plaza Drive, photo studio My Legacy Matters on 5402 Gateway Plaza Drive and barbershop The Modern Man on 2142 Columbus Parkway. One currently existing business identified a new owner in July: the Southern casual restaurant Huckleberry’s in the Southampton Shopping Center, which is now being operated by Tejpal Boporai.
In other matters, the EDB will hear a presentation by Arts & Culture Commission Chair Terry Scott on the vintage Made in Benicia logo, review the city’s first quarter sales tax revenue for 2017 and provide an update on the proposed business walk.
The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. tonight in the City Hall Commission Room, located at 250 East L St.
