September 30, 2020 by Editor Leave a Comment

Vice Mayor Christina Strawbridge was the first to file for the Benicia Mayoral race.

Let the November election filing begin

BENICIA –

Vice Mayor Christina Strawbridge was first to announce in January that she would run for the office of Benicia’s Mayor. Today, July 15, 2020, she was the first to file the paperwork with the City Clerk Lisa Wolfe. She was sworn in 6′ apart and wearing a mask taking the oath of office as a candidate for Mayor. The filing includes several forms of verification including the Nomination Paper signed by 30 prominent registered voters.

I am honored to have the following citizens agree to sign the Nominating Paper filed today.

Council Member Tom Campbell

Council Member Lionel Largaespada

Former Mayor Jerry Hayes

Former Council Member Mark Hughes

Former Council Member Bill Whitney

Former Council Member Dirk Fulton

Former Benicia Unified School Board Trustee Jeanne Steinmann

Former Planning Commissioner Rod Sherry

Former Planning Commissioner Fred Railsback

Former Solano County Supervisor John Silva

Former Benicia Police Chief Jim Trimble

Former Benicia Unified School Board Trustee Jamie Blomdal

Benicia Community and Civic Leaders

Jim Ponder Richard Bortolazzo

Tom Gavin Leeann Cawley

Deanne Sandoval Ponder Michele Hughes

Patty Gavin Becky Kukkola

Kerry Carney Maryellen Hayes

Elizabeth Hayes Cruz Bonnie Silveria

It’s Time! Courage, compassion and collaboration will be her objectives as the new Mayor of Benicia. “There is a lot of work before us and success will come with brave decisions based on listening and collaborating with the community, city staff and a new council.”

The election is in 111 days and issues are changing daily. A perfect example of collaboration and compassion is the recent actions of Jim Ponder, Deanne Sandoval, Mark Hughes and Rod Sherry and their commitment to “Business Helping Business” by raising $248,000 in private funds that helped 55 Benicia small businesses struggling with the aftermath of closures and limited business.
