The California Highway Patrol won’t say where, but its officers will be conducting a checkpoint in Benicia starting at 8 Friday night, Officer Chris Parker said.
Motorists should make sure they are carrying their driver’s licenses, because officers will ask to see them. In addition, they’ll be checking for motorists’ sobriety.
“Traffic volume permitting, all vehicles will be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs can expect to be arrested,” Parker cautioned.
“Those motorists without a valid driver’s license can expect to receive a citation and potentially have their vehicle impounded,” he added.
The compliance check is being underwritten by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, Parker said, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as part of the Reducing Impaired Driving Grant.
