You have seen the yard signs, and you have heard their names. Now you have a chance to get to hear from the candidates for mayor and city council in person tonight for the Benicia Chamber of Commerce’s Candidate’s Night.
The Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a forum at City Hall in which residents will be able to ask questions of those running for office in November. The night will feature mayoral candidates Elizabeth Patterson and Mark Hughes, and council candidates Tom Campbell, Christina Strawbridge, Lionel Largaespada, George Oakes and Steve Young. Each candidate will be allowed to have a 3-minute opening statement and a 3-minute closing statement. In between, they will be answering written questions from the audience. The responses are asked to be no more than a minute and 30 seconds, and the moderator will move on to the next question if a candidate has given their full response with time remaining. The question portion is expected to take about 76 minutes.
The forum will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 250 East L St. It will also be televised locally on Comcast Channel 27. For more information, call the Chamber at 745-2120. Another candidate forum hosted by the League of Women Voters Benicia will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Benicia Public Library, located at 150 East L St.
