Bruins blank San Lorenzo, stay unbeaten this season

September 19, 2016 by Steve Guertin Leave a Comment

Four weeks into the 2016 season, the St. Patrick-St. Vincent High varsity football team has yet to play a game at home. And four weeks into the season, the Bruins have yet to lose a game.

The Bruins ran their record to a perfect 4-0 after crushing host San Lorenzo, 48-0, last Saturday afternoon. It was the fourth straight blowout win for SPSV, which has outscored its opponents 201-12 so far this year. It was also SPSV’s third straight shutout victory.

SPSV quarterback Michael Pappas threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. Pappas tossed TD passes to Marquel Johnson and Kailon Johnson-Loud. Marshel Martin added two rushing touchdowns, Murvin Kenion had a rushing touchdown and Akil Edwards ran back an interception return for a touchdown.

The red-hot Bruins have a bye this week before finally playing at Dante Magnani Field on Sept. 30 against Harker School of San Jose.
