Classes are canceled at all three Solano Community College (SCC) campuses for the remainder of the day after two bomb threats were called in Monday. The Solano County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the campuses.
Within the span of three minutes around noon, two calls were made to SCC stating bombs had been placed at the Fairfield, Vallejo and Vacaville campuses. The first call, placed at approximately 12:05 p.m., was from an unknown male subject, according to a post on the Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page. At 12:08 p.m., another call was placed making the same threats, this time from a female subject.
As a precautionary measure, SCC Superintendent and President Celia Esposito-Noy issued a mandatory evacuation order at all SCC campuses. All classes had been canceled for the remainder of Monday including evening classes, according to a post on SCC’s Facebook page. In the afternoon, law enforcement officers began sweeping the campuses to make sure they were safe. No injuries were reported and there were no suspicious items, packages or explosives on any of the campuses. Law enforcement officers and K-9 officers continue to sweep every campus and classroom for any threatening materials.
“We ask for your continued patience and want to ensure all our college students and staff members are safe,” the sheriff’s department wrote.
