Benicia High’s varsity volleyball team was all business at home against Vallejo on Tuesday and quickly dispatched the overwhelmed Lady Redhawks, 25-5, 25-12, 25-4.
The Lady Panthers are off to one of the best starts in school history. Tuesday’s win bumped Benicia to a perfect 19-0 for the year and 11-0 in the Solano County Athletic Conference.
Benicia head coach Jamie Hadenfeldt was able give her reserve players plenty of court time as the Lady Panthers completed a season sweep of Vallejo. Lana Gore led Benicia with four kills and five aces. Charlotte Cannizzaro, Kellie Sluga and Megan Osterholt each had three kills and two blocks.
Other standouts for Benicia included Reanna Balmediano (six aces), Eden Fukushima (six aces, 12 assists), Lexi Saitz (five assists) and Jessica Blakeman (six digs).
Benicia plays at Fairfield on Thursday.
