Benicia High’s boys tennis team dropped into fourth place in the Solano County Athletic Conference after a 7-2 loss to Bethel on Wednesday.
It was the fifth straight loss for the Panthers (7-7 SCAC), who fell to Bethel by that same 7-2 score a day earlier and lost the season series to the Jaguars (7-6 SCAC).
Kier Glover was a 6-1, 7-5 winner at No. 5 singles for the Panthers. Vincent Tan and Devin Witham teamed up for a 6-3, 6-0 victory in No. 1 doubles.
The Panthers wrapped up the regular season against Vanden on Thursday. Details of that match will appear in Sunday’s Benicia Herald. Benicia would need to win Thursday and have Bethel lose its final two matches for the Panthers to qualify for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II team tournament.
The SCAC Tournament begins later this month at the Millenium Club in Vacaville, with singles competition scheduled for April 29 and doubles competition taking place April 30.
