Benicia High’s girls varsity soccer team moved to within one more win for a Solano County Athletic Conference championship after a 7-0 victory over host Bethel on Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers scored three goals in the first half and never looked back. Michelle Li blasted in a penalty kick for the first score of the night and followed with an unassisted goal a few minutes later. An own goal by Bethel made it 3-0 at the break. Benicia put the game away in the second half on goals by Izzy Reyes, Katie Lovelace, Sara Hingley and Dominique Calloway.
It was the fourth straight shutout for Benicia’s defense and its 11th shutout in 14 games.
The Lady Panthers (11-1-2, 11-0 SCAC) can wrap up the conference championship with a victory Thursday at Vallejo.
Jerry says
Steve -The midfield and defensive players work just has hard as the strikers. If the defensive players missed defending as many goals as strikers miss shots on goals, their winning record would be a completely different story. Give credit where credit is due.
