Benicia High’s boys golf team struggled in the wind Tuesday at Chardonnay but still came away with a 242-255 victory over American Canyon.
It was the second-worst round of the season for Benicia (11-0 Solano County Athletic Conference), which hadn’t played or practiced for more than a week due to Spring Break.
“I think coming off of Spring Break with no practice does not do us well,” said Benicia golf coach Nan Prolo. “But Chardonnay is not an easy course and it was incredibly windy.”
Evan Cuenco birdied the par-5 fourth hole and led Benicia with a 43. Christian Palma-Boldt birdied the par-3 eighth hole and carded a 48. Cameron Cuenco also shot a 48, followed by Aidan Brom with a 49, and Zach McClure and Andy Chase each with a 54.
