Benicia High sophomore Lily Hayward reached the Solano County Athletic Conference singles tennis championship match after winning three matches Tuesday at the Millennium Club in Vacaville.
Hayward upset Fairfield’s Lynda Stybnarova, who was the No. 1 seed in the tournament. Hayward, who played all season as Benicia’s No. 2 singles player, advanced to Wednesday’s SCAC singles final against Vanden’s Kiwi McDaniel, the defending league singles champion.
Benicia No. 1 singles player Michelle Li, seeded third in the tournament, lost to McDaniel in the semifinals, 6-3, 6-4.
The doubles portion of the SCAC Tournament began Wednesday.
