Benicia named to top five in competition for Season 5 of Small Business Revolution

January 15, 2020 by Editor Leave a Comment

Benicia has reached the Top 5 to be featured on Small Business Revolution. The public now has the chance to vote until Jan. 21 for Benicia to be featured on the show.

BENICIA—The City of Benicia learned early Tuesday that Benicia has been selected as one of the “Top 5 Towns” in the competition to be the featured town in season 5 of the hit Hulu series Small Business Revolution, an original series by Deluxe, hosted by Amanda Brinkman and Ty Pennington.

Each season the Deluxe team invests $500,000 to revitalize selected main street small businesses through makeover and marketing assistance while filming the process for the series. According to Deluxe, thousands of towns are nominated each year. The list is narrowed to the top 20, then to the top 10. The Deluxe team makes site visits to the top 10 towns, assessing their needs and opportunities.

Small Business Revolution representatives were in Benicia on Dec. 4 and 5 visiting First Street businesses. After site visits, the team narrows the list to the top five for public voting, which will determine the winner. Public voting opened on Tuesday, Jan. 14 and continues for one week through Tuesday, Jan. 21 online at www.SmallBusinessRevolution.org. Voters may vote one time per day, per device.

“I am excited for our town and the chance for so many viewers to see what we get to experience each day,” said Mario Giuliani, Economic Development Manager. “Our small business owners have helped create a renaissance for us on First Street, now it is our turn to help them with a “Revolution”! I encourage everyone to vote every day for Benicia.”

Benicia is the only Calif. town in the running. Other towns inthe top five are Fredonia, NY; Livingston, MT; Spearfish, SD;and The Dalles, OR.

Small business owners in the winning town will receive marketing support and business advice from a team of Deluxe small-business marketing professionals, including Chief Brand & Content Officer and co-host, Amanda Brinkman. Joining Brinkman as co-host for the third year is television personality and renovation icon Ty Pennington, who brings his infectious personality and eye for aesthetic changes to the show.

“As we enter our fifth season, it’s remarkable that we are still receiving such amazing, compelling nominations,” Brinkman said. “Deluxe takes so much pride in being able to help the businesses in these small towns and showcase the true grit and determination it takes to be an entrepreneur. Any one of the top 10 towns could have made it to our final five this year, but, unfortunately, we had to make some difficult decisions. We are thrilled with this list and can’t wait to find out where the public is sending us this year!”

From Jan. 14-21, members of the public can visit www.SmallBusinessRevolution.org to learn about each town and vote for their favorite community. Once the winner is chosen, Brinkman, Pennington and the Deluxe Small Business Marketing Team will head to the winning town to provide marketing counsel and other assistance to selected business owners. The town’s story will be told in Season 5 of Small Business Revolution, which will air in the fall 2020.

“I’ve worked on a lot of makeover projects in my career, but few have the breadth and scope of what Deluxe is doing with these businesses. We are really helping revitalize an entire community and that is a powerful thing to be part of. I can’t wait to get back to work in a new town,” Pennington said.

Vote every day through Tuesday, Jan. 21 at www.SmallBusinessRevolution.org and your business might be featured. The series is available for viewing online and on Hulu and Prime.
