Benicia Juniors pitcher Robert Ayers tossed a three-hit shutout against Napa in the District 53 opener.

Benicia Little League’s Juniors all-stars opened their District 53 Tournament with an easy 10-0 victory over Napa in five innings last Saturday at Fitzgerald Field.

Pitcher Robert Ayers tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out eight with no walks. Mikey Jones went 3-for-3 with two runs and a RBI, and Daniel Mavros went 2-for-2 with two runs and a RBI. Antonio Morales had two doubles and a RBI, Anthony Jordan had a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Isaiah Miranda had a two-run double.

Benicia’s Juniors (1-0) faced American Canyon on Tuesday in a match-up of the only two unbeaten teams in the bracket. The winner advances to Sunday’s championship round while the loser plays tonight in an elimination game against Sonoma.
