Benicia High’s girls tennis team swept all six singles matches en route to an 8-1 victory over host American Canyon on Thursday.
Benicia No. 1 singles player Michelle Li returned after missing two matches and won 6-2, 6-2. Nicole Go was a 6-0, 6-0 winner in No. 6 singles.
Lily Hayward battled to a 6-3, 6-4 victory in No. 2 singles. Other singles winners for Benicia included Samantha Beyer at No. 3 (6-3, 6-2), Madeline Beyer at No. 4 (6-2, 6-3) and Melanie Fisher at No. 5 (6-2, 6-3).
Gabriella Traver and Katie Voss were 6-2, 6-1 winners in No. 1 doubles, and Milagros Esmerode and Megan Klein won 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 doubles. Adeline Morley and Madison Lammert fell 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 for their first loss of the season.
“Our ability to win many deuce points and hold service gave us the winning edge,” said Benicia head coach Lisa Burton.
Benicia (8-0 Solano County Athletic Conference) plays at Bethel on Tuesday.
