Benicia Fire Department to host ‘Pictures with Santa’ for Toys for Tots fundraiser, Dec. 14

December 11, 2019 by Editor Leave a Comment

BENICIA – Come spend time with Santa and friends. Sat. Dec. 14 from 3-6 p.m. at Fire Station 11, 150 Military West. From 1-2 p.m. there will be a private session with Santa and children with special needs. We will be accepting toys for the Toys for Tots Drive. All toys must be new and unwrapped.

“The event has been going on for about eight years now,” said Patti Woodside of the Benicia Fire Department. “Last year we took around 300 pics with Santa.”

Although the fire department didn’t keep attendance records, each child in a picture came with one or more parents and/or siblings. Last year BFD collected barrels and boxes full of toys.

“The community was very generous!” she said.

A large portion of the toys go to Travis Air Force Base and then get donated throughout Solano County. The remainder is donated to local Benicia organizations.
