The Benicia Fire Department extinguished a two-alarm grass fire that burned 10 to 12 acres near Lake Herman Road on Friday.
At approximately 3 p.m., the Benicia Fire Department had responded to a grass fire on Lake Herman near the city limits. No injuries or damage to structures was reported. The Fire Department also received assistance from the fire departments in Vallejo, Cordelia, Contra Costa County and Suisun City. The city of Fairfield also provided city coverage.
The fire led to Lake Herman Road being temporarily closed, but it was reopened approximately three hours later.
“The crews did a great job of keeping it south of Lake Herman,” Fire Chief Josh Chadwick said. “The winds were pretty hard, but the crews did a great job of stopping the fire from jumping the roadway.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
