OWNERS OF BENICIA COMPANIES MAY LEARN ABOUT sustainable and ecologically conscientious principles and practices this month in the second series of classes offered by the Community Sustainability Commission.
The seminars, underwritten through funds from the Valero-Good Neighbor Steering Committee Settlement Agreement under the approval of the Benicia City Council, are free to participants, said Constance Beutel, Sustainability Commission chairperson.
The five seminars in the course are taught through the Dominican University of California’s Green MBA program. The first meeting will be used to adjust the course to meet the specific needs of those attending, Beutel said.
Other sessions will cover the topics of “Sustainability: Making the Case for Business”; “Lean, Green and Clean: The Design Revolution and the Clean Tech Sector”; “Green and Social Marketing Tactics and Strategies”; and “Action Plans: Profit, People, Planet.”
While the series targets professionals in Benicia commercial and industrial businesses, anyone 18 years old or older may attend, Beutel said.
The meetings will take place from 5:30-8:45 p.m. Jan. 31, Feb. 7, Feb. 14, Feb. 21 and Feb. 28 in the Benicia Community Center, 370 East L St. Seating is limited to 40.
“If you plan to attend, you must commit to all five sessions,” Beutel said. “Upon completion, you will receive a letter of completion from Dominican University.”
Those interested may contact Beutel by email at cmbeutel@sbcglobal.net.
