Starbucks in Solano Square

THE COMMUNITY ROOM AT STARBUCKS, 90 Solano Square, will be available for use on a first-come, first-served basis starting Feb. 1.

Through January, the coffeehouse is letting nonprofits use the room, but only after a representative of the group provide Starbucks management with documentation, including the tax identification number, said Cori Cook, barista.

Organizations have been asked to describe their type of non-profit status and provide information for a contact person.

That practice changes next month, when reservations no longer will be required, Cook said.

The community room is available during the Starbucks coffeehouse’s regular operating hours, 4:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and 5 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sundays, though groups are asked to conclude business 30 minutes before closing so the community room can be cleaned, Cook said.

Starbucks, a Seattle, Wash.-based coffee company, is the largest business of its kind in the world, with coffeehouses in 61 countries.

Since its founding in 1971 by two teachers and a writer, it has been serving and selling a variety of hot and cold beverages, whole-bean coffee, teas, pastries and food items as well as accessories and community services.

In addition to beverages and the Verismo espresso machine, the local coffeehouse offers food and WiFi service, including the iTunes music store. It can be reached by telephone at 707-746-6473.

Information about the company is available on its website.
