REACH pilots acknowledged
REACH Air Medical Services, the Santa Rosa-based company that is part of one of the largest air ambulance services, has recognized several pilots who have logged at least 2,500 flights, Anna Blair, vice president of business relations and development, said.
They are REACH 1 helicopter pilot Ken Suzuki of Santa Rosa, who has completed 3,000 flights; and REACH 6 flight paramedic Terry Gowen of Lakeport, REACH 6 flight nurse Cindy Scruggs, also of Lakeport, and REACH 3 flight nurse Brian Warner of Concord, all of whom have 2,500 flights to their credit.
Suzuki has spent nearly 27 years with the company, and all four have flown with REACH for at least 15 years, Blair said.
Also recognized by the company is Vicky Spediacci, vice president of aviation operations, who has been with REACH since 1994, originally as a line pilot. Spediacci has attended more than 1,500 patient transports and has spent 8,000 flight hours, at between 100 to 150 trips a year.
REACH began as a project by Dr. John L. McDonald, who wanted better emergency medical services in Sonoma County, and started in 1987 with one helicopter. The company has expanded throughout California, Oregon and Texas, with 21 bases in all and a fleet of 17 helicopters, nine airplanes and 10 ground ambulances.
