Benicia soccer player Faith Baumgartner was selected to represent the Northern California Olympic Development Program at this weekend’s Region IV girls ODP Regional Camp on the Linfield College campus in McMinnville, Ore.
It’s the second time in three years Baumgartner has been invited to play at the Olympic development level. Baumgartner was invited and attended the Region IV regional camp at Cal Poly-Pomona in July, 2013.
Players were evaluated and identified by the State, Regional and/or National staff, and only selected girls from each western state were picked to attend this prestigious camp, which runs today through Tuesday. From this camp, the Regional IV team will be selected for the Regional IV Pool. Players who are selected for the Regional IV team will participate in the national event, where they can then be evaluated and identified for National Camps and possibly the National Team.
Baumgartner, who will begin her junior year at Benicia High in the fall, is the present captain for the Pleasanton Rage under-16 traveling team and has been a Cal North ODP state selection four years in a row. She was a Nor Cal PDP Region 6 roster player in 2011 and 2012, and scored the winning goal for Northern California against Washington in the 2013 Region IV Olympic Development Championships in Las Vegas, Nev.
