The Artys, produced by the Performing Arts Network (PAN-Arts), annually honor Solano County theatrical shows. BOTTG) has been nominated in each of the 30 years Arty Awards have been offered.
BOTTG received 11 nominations this year, not only for “Same Time Next Year” but also for its other qualifying production, “The Sunshine Boys.”
All of the local company’s awards went to “Same Time Next Year,” Vojvoda said.
Besides being chosen best comedy, “Same Time Next Year” also earned a best leading actress in a comedy Arty for Rebecca Grayce, and Alan Coyne was honored as best leading actor in a comedy for his role in the show.
The production’s director, Hester Schell, was named best director of a comedy.
Vojvoda had acknowledged that BOTTG was up against stiff competition this year.
“There are many wonderful companies,” she said of other theatrical groups in Solano County.
The awards were announced Saturday at the Arty Awards Gala at Solano College Theatre in Fairfield, at which 15 BOTTG members attended, Vojvoda said.
Meanwhile, BOTTG actors and production personnel are busy on the group’s next show, “Dial M for Murder,” written by Frederick Knott, which opens Oct. 17 and runs through Nov. 8.
Grace has been cast in that play as well. Her role is Margot Wendice, who was portrayed by Grace Kelly in the 1954 Alfred Hitchcock movie that was based on Knott’s play.
