Aroma Indian Cuisine has been serving customers on First Street in Benicia since 2008 and at its newer location in Napa since 2014, chef and owner Harjeet Bhangu told the Herald Monday.
“There are limitations in the kitchen at the historic building on First Street,” he said, “but at Mirchi Grill (the new restaurant on Columbus Parkway), there is more room for us to expand our menu offerings.”
Bhangu and his wife have always been foodies, he says, and they are excited to be able to explore more options in the newer, more modern kitchen at Mirchi. He travels to London once each year to stay current with trends in Indian cuisine.
“My family is fourth generation England,” he says. “Indian food is very popular in the city. In fact, the national dish for the United Kingdom is Chicken Tikka Masala.”
Bhangu is friends with some of the chefs in London and visits them in their kitchens when he travels there.
Mirchi Grill offers North Indian and South Indian selections including eight different wraps and eight grill selections.
“Mirchi is 60 to 70 percent organic,” Bhangu adds, which is in keeping with a growing trend in Indian fare. “At the end of the day, my wife and I know that we have provided something good.”
Mirchi Grill is located at 2032 Columbus Parkway, at the intersection of Columbus Parkway and Rose Drive. The restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information call the restaurant at
