Three Vacaville residents traveling north on Interstate 680 died Tuesday afternoon after their Kia Spectra left the pavement and struck a canal near Lake Herman Road, according to reports.
The victims were identified Wednesday as Everett and Wanda Wright, both 76, and Ulrich Woods, 78, said Tenzin Dorji, deputy Solano County coroner-investigator. The cause of death had not been determined as of Wednesday.
The 2004 Kia, traveling at about 70 mph, had been involved in a prior minor accident with another vehicle going the same direction at the Lake Herman Road ramp, California Highway Patrol officers told other news outlets. No other information was provided about the other vehicle or driver.
The Kia continued off the highway and rolled several times before landing on its wheels, according to reports. The three were wearing seat belts, and the vehicle’s air bags deployed.
The highway ramp was closed after the accident, but was reopened about 6:20 p.m.
